ICYMI: Tuberville on the Brian Kilmeade Show

“It’s unfortunate that we make political decisions instead of decisions for our country, to keep it strong.”

WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) today joined the Brian Kilmeade Show on Fox News Radio to discuss his decision to hold all U.S. Department of Defense flag and civilian nominees over the department’s new expanded abortion policy that circumvents Congress.

Excerpts from Senator Tuberville’s interview can be found below, and audio of the full interview can be found here

“This is about the rule of law. This is about doing things the right way and we tried to do it the right way. I tried to get them to talk to me—the Secretary of Defense and people putting this new policy together.”

“I told them last week when they challenged me on this…‘You need to be worried about recruiting people that are actually going to fight for our country, not the people who’s going to give the orders.’ Like you said, we’re way behind. And it’s all these woke policies that they put through the military that these young men and women have to go through and listen to and be educated on, instead of learning how to fight and be the people that’s going to protect our national security.”

“We’re the joke of the world—not the people that’s in it right now, but the people that’s trying to control it and do everything they can to make a meeker and milder military.”

“This is all contrived to take down the best military that’s ever been.”

“It’s unfortunate that we make political decisions instead of decisions for our country, to keep it strong.”

BACKGROUND

The interview comes on the heels of a series of attacks toward Senator Tuberville from Senate Democrats, including U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Colorado Senator Michael Bennet. However, support for Senator Tuberville’s decision has grown immensely among outside conservative groups and his Republican colleagues. Earlier this week, Senator Tuberville penned an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal explaining his decision in detail.
