As confirmation hearings for President-Elect Donald Trump’s cabinet approach, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville is calling on Senate Republicans to unite and stand firm behind Trump’s nominees.
Tuberville said colleagues should not hesitate to seize the historic opportunity to restore conservative leadership in Washington and roll back the damage caused by years of far-left policies on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures.
“There’s going to be a lot of hard work,” said Tuberville. “I’ve been in the Senate for four years and we’ve fought back against this radical agenda from the left. We’ve had to play defense. We’ve had no chance to play offense. Now we have a new head coach in President Trump. He’ll start January 20th, but we’ll start in the new Congress on January 5th.”
“We need to all come together. Our job in the Senate is to advise and consent, and we need to talk about each one of these conferees.”
Tuberville stressed the importance of a unified and loyal cabinet to support President Trump’s agenda to grow the economy, secure the borders and put America first again.
“If anybody’s got any problems between now and January 5th, let’s work this out. We’ve got the numbers to do it ourselves. We don’t need any Democrats to help us. We’ve got the numbers. Let’s step up to the plate, and do our job, because we have to get this country back going in the right direction.”
Tuberville stressed the importance of Trump having a loyal and devoted cabinet to fight for his agenda.
“President Trump only has a short period of time. Four years is not long. We’re going to need every second to get this country back going in the right direction. He needs a team around him that’s going to help him.”
A large amount of distrust from Senate Republicans has fallen on Trump’s pick for Attorney General, Matt Gaetz. While Gaetz is controversial for many, including conservative legislators who voted to confirm Merrick Garland, he remains a favorite of the President-elect and may be a non-negotiable cabinet member.
